James Bond Island Tour from Koh Yao Yai is a sightseeing trip that takes you to the north of Phang Nga Bay, which is a great place to take photos of dramatic sheer limestone islands. James Bond Island and Koh Panyee are just two of the more famous spots in this bay. Phang Nga Bay covers an area of 400sqkm and is home to some 100 islands, many of which could feature in The Guinness Book of Records either for their beauty or for their freakish shapes.
James Bond Island or Khao Phing Kan, with its famous rocky pinnacle (Koh Tapu), has been a major attraction ever since it featured in the 1974 Bond movie “The Man with The Golden Gun”. On James Bond Island you can see another beautiful natural phenomenon, the leaning rock and that’s exactly what the name Khao Phing Kan means.
We stop at Koh Panyee muslim floating village – whole village built out over water on stilts with a giant monolith guarding its rear. You will get a chance to spend some time in the village watching people’s ordinary life, visit the local school yard, mosque and do some shopping.
We will be cruising by mangrove forests that form interesting channels in the sea. Mangrove forests provide protection and shelter against extreme weather events, such as storm winds and floods, as well as tsunamis. They are rich in biodiversity providing a habitat for wide varieties of animal and plant species.
Lunch is served on board during one of the stops.
