Overview

Koh Hong Islands - Private Longtail Boat

Koh Hong Islands – Private Longtail Boat is a very relaxing private snorkeling day tour full of swimming and enjoyment on tiny beaches.

Koh Hong (in translation Room Island) is a group of small islands with hidden beaches and lagoons.

It is a perfect escape destination. The island is known for its impressive limestone formations and for that, it’s certainly one of the most beautiful places in Thailand. But not only the limestone cliffs are impressive, also the fine white powdered sand beach of Hong Island is really awesome. Another highlight on the island is the Hong Lagoon, which can only be reached by boat entering a narrow rock-opening.

There is newly opened platform with 360° view point. It is 10mins hike with 419 stairs but totally worth it. Stunning views of the islands around, rock formations and sea.

However, we recommend to go there early in the morning before all the crowds from Krabi or Phuket come to the area. There is no restaurant or place to eat. We offer complimentary water and fresh fruit onboard and lunch on the way back to Koh Yao Yai.

Departure is from any hotel or resort in Koh Yao Yai and the local driver will take you to the pier where you will jump on the longtail boat. The local captain speaks English and will show you all the beautiful places. The trip takes usually about 5 – 6 hours, but that really depends on you how long you would like to stay.

Lastly, we offer Private Charters for different snorkeling and sightseeing destinations.

Tip: Do not forget to check our Daily Speedboat Tours or how about try diving? No previous experience needed? Let’s dive into it with PADI Discover Scuba Diving program.

Itinerary

Departure time upon your decision

Our local Thai driver will meet you at your resort at desired pick up time. We recommend to start early to avoid crowds that come there at 9am. Please let us know your room number in advance. Driver takes you to the northern pier to get on the traditional longtail boat with Thai boat captain who speaks some English. There is no sea kayaking on this trip.

Cruise to Koh Hong

The first stop is the stunning Hong Island, just a 25-minute boat ride away. You’ll find a fine sandy beach, perfect for relaxing or swimming. There’s also a short nature trail beneath impressive limestone cliffs, where you can admire the local flora. For those who enjoy a bit of adventure, climb the stairs to the 360° viewpoint for breathtaking panoramic views of Phang Nga Bay. It’s a perfect start to your day in paradise.

Visit Koh Lao Lading, Pakbia beach, Koh Nok

After Hong Island, we explore a few smaller, hidden gems—Koh Lao Lading, Koh Pakbia, and Koh Nok. These islands have tiny, secluded beaches that truly feel like you've escaped the outside world—a real tropical paradise. We recommend visiting early in the day to enjoy the peace and beauty before the crowds arrive. You can relax, swim, and if you're lucky, spot monkeys—they’re often seen around these islands and may even swim! But a word of caution: it’s best not to feed them, even if they're curious. There are plenty of other tourists who will, but for their health and your safety, it’s better to just enjoy watching them from a distance.

Stop at famous Laem Haad Beach

Depending on the tides, the boat captain will stop at Laem Haad Beach, where you can stroll along the shore and, during low tide, even walk out onto the sandy spit. The beach transforms throughout the day as the tides reveal and cover the sand. Laem Haad was also featured in the 2016 movie Mechanic: Resurrection.

Return to Koh Yao Yai

The tour lasts around 5 hours, after which you’ll return to Koh Yao Yai, where a car will take you back to your resort. It’s been a full and rewarding day of exploring, swimming, and relaxing on beautiful beaches. This itinerary is a great alternative to the James Bond Island tour, especially if you’re looking for a more laid-back experience focused on beaches and swimming rather than sightseeing alone.

FAQs

What to bring on the tour?

Please bring your beach towel, swimwear, flip flops, sunscreen, hat and pocket cash money. There is a beach bar selling coffee, fruit shakes and snacks on Hong Island beach.

Where should I meet the driver to start the tour?

That depends on your resort. In most cases, you'll meet the driver at one of the following locations: the reception area, the resort’s parking lot, or just outside the resort on the main road.

Some resorts, such as Santhiya and Anantara, have designated pick-up points. For example, Santhiya guests are picked up at the parking area on the main road, while Anantara guests are brought to the security gate by golf cart.

We will provide you with the exact meeting point during the booking process.

Where do you serve a lunch?

Depending on whether you choose the standard or luxury version of the tour, the boat captain will either prepare a lunch set to enjoy on the beach or serve it onboard under the shaded roof.

Would it be possible to start the trip later in the day to catch the sunset?

Absolutely, you can start the tour at any time; however, please keep in mind that it lasts approximately 5 hours and the beaches close at 5 PM. You'll enjoy the sunset during the return cruise to Koh Yao Yai.

Do you accept credit cards? Can I pay cash in other currencies than THB?

We do not accept credit cards. Instead, we accept direct payments via PayPal, Wise, or Revolut with advanced payments. For in-person payments at the pick up point, we only accept cash in Thai Baht (THB), as we've had difficulties exchanging foreign banknotes in the past. Thank you for your understanding.

What if the weather is bad? Will the tour be canceled or rescheduled?

We monitor the weather and wind forecast very closely each day to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip. If the forecast is uncertain, we make a final decision in the morning and notify all participants via WhatsApp. In case the tour cannot operate, we’ll offer to reschedule it for another day, you're welcome to join if your schedule allows. If rescheduling isn’t possible, we provide a full refund (though in most cases, payment is made just before the tour, so there’s usually nothing to refund).
